Hi there,
I have a question about the DPX file.
I´ve just imported a DPX sequence into flame. The EDL works very well.
Now, I don´t know if I have to change the colorspace. The colorspace should be correct! Am I right?
How can I know if the color ir correct? Thanks,

About your question, it’s absolutely no sense !!!
what EDL is doing there ? the colorspace depends on if it’s day shot or night shot …
and to know if it’s correct, you should look your image with eyes partially shut, it helps
to see better the colorspace, and if it flicks so your colorspace is infinite and beyond..
Hope this can help you..March 30, 2010 at 2:44 pm #218906filipParticipantHi Thiago,
The color space is not necessary related to how your input your files on Flame.
Are those dpx coming from a film scan?
Do you know the colorspace of those files?
In what format are you delivering?
Are you mixing in your comp CG element os anything that might be in a different colorspace?March 30, 2010 at 9:08 pm #218905pixelmonkParticipantThe colourspace of DPX files is 10 bit log, Flame works, (natively) in 12 bit linear, so you will need to use a log to lin LUT to get them into the right colourspace. I would advise against using the standard Discreet LUT, as they tend to clip the whites. It would also be useful to work with a monitor LUT, so you can get an approximation of what it will look like once printed back to film.
However, if all you are doing is an assemble, no effects work at all, I would keep them in log space.Paul

perhaps if you can tell us what you’re going to do to the shots ? like Paul said, if you’re simply assembling it and exporting out then don’t change the color space.

Thanks a lot for all advices.
I was talking to the colorist and he said me the color is correct. So, I don´t have to change anything. Although is possible having to change the colorspace sometimes.
😉Cheers,
