Does anyone know if Media Illusion is a free download now? You can find it @ http://www.softimage.com/Products/Other/Illusion/download/Download.htm
Im just not sure if the licsense is free. If it is, does anyone know if it would be at all worth it/at all useable to buy an SGI o2 and run media illusion on it (would just have to install a bigger scsi disk into the machine for video storage)

I’m newbie here so the answer is probably late…
The Illusion 6.1v8 is the latest release of Media Illusion. It contains some bug fixes and the DPX file support. You can download this version but you’ll need a v6.1 license to make it works. A version 6.0 license won’t work.
