We’re running the new versions of flame on an Octane MXE and flint on an Octane SE without any problems.

The previous versions of inferno/flame were the last for RE2.

How much ram would you recommend on an old MXI DP195, or what can be done to make it pretty good to work on including HD ?

Your thinking of RE 1, the old Onyx systems

The new version 5/8 software only runs on ONYX 2, in the inferno product line

so we lost RE uses back on 2.5.1 and we are now losing Onyx 1 users altogether for the mixed resolution 5/8 release – but hey it has to be about time to upgrade those Onyx 1’s isn’t it ? 😉

I’ve never heard of Onyx RE1, but I know for a fact that Onyx RE2 (Onyx 1) was supported up to version 2.5.1 of inferno.

Onyx IR (also Onyx 1) was just dropped with version 5, so the latest software that can be run on this platform is version 4.7.x.

Onyx IR2 (i.e. Onyx 2) can support version 5 of course.

Flame 7.x and 8 will not run properly on MXI. It will only run on E series graphics. SE with Tram option will also work however I have noticed some color banding on gradients.

Hmm, this sounds interesting. Because JFP always told us, the main difference between I and E is speed. So they were the same to software, as far as I remember from Jean Francois Panisset flame-news posts. Do I remember wrong? What may be the cause?
