Anyone play around with the Kaleido Scope in Flame/Inferno. Kinda like the Fruitopia spot. Anyone have any suggestions or setups. Thanks

Hi, I have done a few jobs using kaleidoscopes and have found action/expressions to give the most control. I will pm you a link to a recent job and if it’s of interest i can send a setup to you.

yeah, the saphire kaleido spark is neat, but really limited. if you want to do some real Kaliedo scope stufff you need to use expressions.

Hmmm. I suck with expressions, havent really go into them. A setup to get me started would be great.

Hi, couldn’t get the pm working so here’s the logon details.
This is a test for a Landrover commercial, it’s using details of the car to form patterns. Kaleido expressions in action are actually very simple to set up when you get your head around it – as i said i can send you a setup next week if interested. Here’s the logon details for the company i work for..

    thanks

Love that ad. Is that done with instancing and expressions or with the “poor man’s expressions” trick?

Anyone know a way to do kaleido-type effects with actual mirroring instead of just copying objects?

Hi Ivar – what’s your email add.. I’ll send it to you.

Hi Loops, it’s done with some control axis and linking nodes, i think it’s the quickest way to achieve the effect. I would imagine a mirrored Kaleidoscope could be made in the same way, by having various central points of orientation instead of one?
