Anyone play around with the Kaleido Scope in Flame/Inferno. Kinda like the Fruitopia spot. Anyone have any suggestions or setups. Thanks

robertMarch 10, 2006 at 1:42 pm #212320Matias VazquezParticipantHi, I have done a few jobs using kaleidoscopes and have found action/expressions to give the most control. I will pm you a link to a recent job and if it’s of interest i can send a setup to you.

March 10, 2006 at 3:22 pm #212317Martin FurnessParticipantRob thats awesome. Ya im playing with sparks, and im not all that privy with expressions. I would love to see what you have done, and possible setup. Very much appreciated.
March 10, 2006 at 3:34 pm #212309IsaacParticipantyeah, the saphire kaleido spark is neat, but really limited. if you want to do some real Kaliedo scope stufff you need to use expressions.
March 10, 2006 at 4:34 pm #212315Martin FurnessParticipantHmmm. I suck with expressions, havent really go into them. A setup to get me started would be great.
March 10, 2006 at 6:40 pm #212319Matias VazquezParticipantHi, couldn’t get the pm working so here’s the logon details.
This is a test for a Landrover commercial, it’s using details of the car to form patterns. Kaleido expressions in action are actually very simple to set up when you get your head around it – as i said i can send you a setup next week if interested. Here’s the logon details for the company i work for..thanks

March 13, 2006 at 8:03 pm #212311bnwParticipantLove that ad. Is that done with instancing and expressions or with the “poor man’s expressions” trick?
Anyone know a way to do kaleido-type effects with actual mirroring instead of just copying objects?
March 14, 2006 at 8:16 am #212307ghsnycParticipantcvan you plz send me the setup too ?
thx for sharing that nice spot

Hi Loops, it’s done with some control axis and linking nodes, i think it’s the quickest way to achieve the effect. I would imagine a mirrored Kaleidoscope could be made in the same way, by having various central points of orientation instead of one?
