You have to save your illustrator file in the older 5.0 version!

    Hi,

Combustion 2.1.1 supports importing of adobe illustrator 8.0 files.

Hi, thanks for replying to my post, but both points didnt answer my question (my fault – sorry should have explained the problem i’m having):

I’m coming from AE (we all are these days) where after importing an illustrator file, you have the option button to ‘contiuously rasterize’ the file.

I’m having trouble still trying to achieve this in C*. I have posted to other boards, but although I got feedback, and after following the suggested steps, I still cannot find away to achive it.

I want to zoom into an illustrator logo, and not have it become fuzzy.

    Thanks
    Mark

    Hi,

Sorry, I misunderstood your question the first time.

In the paint operator, the vectors are resolution independant. You can scale them and change them without resolution issues. Now when this is brought into the compositor as a layer, it becomes bitmap based. Hence, scaling the layer will result in pixelization.

To over come this you will need to create a layer that is bigger then the resolution you are working in and you can scale it up or down.

To do this you would import your vector file into combustion. Let’s say it creates a 400×400 pixel resolution. You are working in PAL (720×576). What you would do is expand the imported layer and select “Solid”. (Solid acts like a canvas where your vector art is drawn on). You can resize the canavas to what ever size you like. Lets say you resize it to 1200×1200 pixels. Your logo will still be 400×400 pixels.

Go back into paint and select all your objects and group them. You can now scale the art to match the 1200×1200 pixel size of the solid.

When you are done, you can ungroup if you want and return to the compositor where you will have a large layer of your vector art in the comp of PAL resoution.

    Hope this helps.
