Hi, I have a basic question – If you are using layers in the timeline, can you use the keyer while in the timeline? Can you draw a mask in one layer to reveal items in the lower layers? Sorry this is a low level question, my skill are not great. I just want to know if I must use DVE (or the keyer) or if I can use the timeline soft effects. Thanks for the Help!

Put an Axis soft-effect on your timeline clip, and then enter the full Axis module by hitting the “E” button right next to the “Axis” button. Once you’re in there you’ll see a “Keyer” button at the bottom of the screen. At that point you’ll be taken into the Keyer module where you can do all your keying, roto, and garbage masking.
