    Hi,

I have to plan a shot in which an actress stands at a window looking out of it (camera is inside the room). The place outside needs to be replaced with a composite.
I want to keep the reflections on the glass and it’s material quality, so I wondered whether I should place the green right on the glass, having her touching the green (and later creating a window and fake the reflection) or better put the greenscreen outside the room and try to preserve the reflection and the glass during the key process.
I can imagine the key might effect the reflections in some way making them unusable. I have no experience with keying through glass so…
    any ideas would be appreciated.

    thx

    hello

some keyer like ultimatte give a good result for this type of key. You can also use mode transfer to keep the highlight of your glass, screen mode add etc…

A other tricks, put your greenscreen the furthest away from the windows. It for keeping the reflection and prevent spill on your glass.

    good luck

There is another way to actually 2 I can think of right now.

First would be to use real glass reflection on set and try to pull key with advanced keyers like ultimatte advantedge, or prematte or Z-big or…make your own 😉 If the set-up is nice and key is light well you might do it his way with great speed and realism.

Second way would be to shoot it without actual glass surface on window frames or if she needs to touch it use polarizer (if available) if not try to get it without any reflection on the glass and the trick, have someone with DV cam shoot from the side opposite and to the side (out of the view of main cam) and comp that over the glass layer :)) that cam should be placed on tripod or record from hand and stabilize later.
Comp method Screen and a bit of masking if necessary.
    😛
