i’d really like to hold down spacebar in my timeline and see that little hand for zooming around, like smoke + ae
You can extend the timeline pressing CTRL key and use the mouse or press ALT key and mouse for add keyframes or CTRL+ALT for edit only one tanget of bezier curve.
Render particles with alpha? Can You use the alpha generated for particles emmiter ?
Quote:and why can’t i apply a transfer mode to my particles? why would someone have thought we wouldn’t want to do that??Tried use layers?

cheers,

can u give some explanation to define better your thinking?
How long you use combustion and for what?November 28, 2005 at 6:36 pm #210921muiisalParticipantoh the compare thing…
that was a reference to previous post…
“i’d like them to sort out that compare tool – yes it’s useful for masking on the actual composite – but when i have 15 shots in a workspace and i’m working on the last shot – i have to scroll down that Select Your Compare Layer list for 10 mins until i hit the right composite – EVERY TIME i want to compare my mask (can’t it just remember it from last time?? Could it not auto jump to the composite i’m working in to place this at the top of the box that opens??)”
once again, how to’s welcome 🙂
November 28, 2005 at 9:22 pm #210922AnonymousInactiveWouldnt say i hate it but i dont like it. The Edit operator (yeah, i know..C* isnt a editin tool but..). I’d rather see Reel’s in C5. And I would love to see a 64bit version of it aswell. Hmm cant think of anything els…Looks like im quite happy with the product.

ah, sure, yeah, thought there’s something to the “compare feature”…
is just another option to a for painting/masking 😉-rayk
November 29, 2005 at 1:29 pm #210923AnonymousInactiveHi everyone,
One thing that bugs me about the “3D” viewports is the lack of a camera dolly or track tool. You can zoom in or zoom out. You can pan the whole viewport, but you can’t pan around the actual layer that is in the viewport when you are zoomed in. I have unchecked the “constrain to composite edges” box in the OpenGL preferences, and though this gives me a larger area to view, it still has “outer edges” that I can’t view beyond and if I zoom in to do some CU roto work, I am limited as to what part of the layer I can see. 😡
If anyone has a suggestion, that would be cool
November 30, 2005 at 2:48 pm #210924mcmasterParticipantWhat drives me crazy are groups in paint. Quite handy, but you can’t open them and you can’t add things to an existing group. Definately an only half implemented feature.
And that the brush-size hasn’t got a value where it keeps it size even when the object is scaled. Like nail it down to 2 pixels and keep it at 2 pixels even if you scale your object big.
And that you can’t create objects filled and stroked the same time! But hey, flash-export is great as it saves you renderingtime while previewing. But it doesn’t export verticies-animations when you loop them ;-(
November 30, 2005 at 5:36 pm #210885David MarteParticipantWell, I’ll always prefer that “90’s” interface look Over After Effects Bright gray platinum puff daddy looking GUI..lol…
Also i’ll love to see the “Start,User,Video Timing Exit” thing when you start a FFI session. I dont know what its called but it would be cool to load combustion and see something like that saying
“Open,New,ImportWorkspace or something & Exit” with the little Combustion icon on top just like FFI..that would be KOOL!!! also
it would give Autodesk (Discreet Dam it!!) an even better look across all compositing/FX products… 🙂 I love Combustion…..David “The Kid”
November 30, 2005 at 10:45 pm #210902mdillenderParticipantI know someone already said it but I can’t help but say that I can’t stand the inability to easily resize viewports or work areas. It’s probably one of the most standard features in apps, get with it Autodesk!
Other than that, really love C
December 15, 2005 at 10:53 pm #210901RogurtParticipantYep that´s right. Resolution independenT? No way! Have U ever done a motion graphics job (just stills and paint) and tried to scale the whole thing up for another output intend? It all breaks up (or pixelates if u just scale the layer)
But I really wonder if nobody does heavy keyframing in here? You´d surely hate most the behavior of keyframes not beeing set right ON a frame but between two frames (it really fucks up things if you have lots of events to time right). And with grouped objects (e.g. a word): try to animate the opacity having the animation button on (red) and twisting values. Put maybe the second keyframe some frames later. Oh! Whats that? Nothing happened! Combustion also writes Keyframes in all child objects in the group which then keeps a parent object (and it´s e.g. opacity value) from affecting them.
I have seen all the versions from V1 and MAN I cann tell U. Those guys programming that stuff seem not to haveworked with the app on any realworld job (at least not involving heavy keyframing).
And it´s no use writing to the support (I done it quite a few times) -
