Hi I was wondering what anyone could recommend as a product for color calibration of an LCD monitor for PAL.

June 5, 2008 at 9:40 pm #216834Michael DaltonParticipantWell… the issues is a little more complex that just trying to steer the primary of an LCD monitor towards that of a Sony CRT. Just in attempting will definitely lead to issues. There are colors in each of the gammut of each that can’t be faithfully represented just by moving your contrast, brightness and white point on the lcd.
There are a lot of people who are using Truelight in and a Truelight probe in order to accomplish this…

Truelight would essentially allow you to bend the response for the LCD into the closet approximation possible of a Sony CRT monitor. Of course there are a ton of other application since Truelight is a total color management system – so all of the Lut generation and calibrating viewing environment candy comes along for the ride.
Obviously I’m biased but in my former life before joining FilmLight I deployed Truelight shop wide across 4 DI and 4 finishing bays and it was a staple of my business.
