We’re looking to replace our aging monitors with LCDs, any suggestions? Ideally I’m looking for ones that will run on an Onyx2 as well as a linux box.

April 5, 2007 at 8:57 pm #215360SinanParticipantI heard that new linux boxes have Sony lcd monitors. Is it correct? And do they have an analog RGB input, for connecting the onyx2 or octane2? Do those monitors scan at 50Hz, and 72Hz? Many lcd monitors only accept 60Hz.

I was at XTFX the other day and they have the eizo montiprs with the new autodeesk systems. Very nice, but pretty expensive. We are buying them here for dev work, they really are good.

Tell you about them in the Raglan sometime over a pint of Gouchers.
Cheers

April 5, 2007 at 11:29 pm #215366Martin FurnessParticipantOn the back of my monitor the model number is SDM-P234 and has 5 cables coming from it all hooked up through bnc’s R,G,B,B,W cables. Here are a couple on EBAY check them out and see if these are worth it.
Crap sorry about the huge link, ill remove it after you look at it.
April 10, 2007 at 8:05 am #215368David StewartParticipantStay away from the Phillips ones. They get green blobs appearing around the edges. My old facility went through four in two years.
But i just asked one of the other flame guys there and he says they just got an Eizo coloredge ce240 and he claims it is the best LCD he has ever seen. 180 degree viewing angle and they guarantee color calibration.
He aked me to say hi by the way Paul (it’s Mike Parsons).
April 10, 2007 at 12:25 pm #215357pixelmonkParticipantHi Michael, are you sure it’s the S2411W and not the CE240W?
Paul

Ill ask him tomorrow and let you know.
April 10, 2007 at 2:06 pm #215358pixelmonkParticipantSorry J, I was replying to Lanky, but say hi to Mike for me.

April 11, 2007 at 12:55 pm #215359pixelmonkParticipantAnybody know if the apple cinema displays would work?
Paul
April 11, 2007 at 12:58 pm #215371David StewartParticipantapparently they don’t work with all necessary frequencies.
May 10, 2007 at 2:23 am #215372Michael SchlesingerParticipantApple Cinema works only with 60HZ, and also have NO adjustments you can make… just brightness. I have 2 and really don’t consider them good monitors, not for a real video professional application.

Same with someone standing behind you, seriously one sweet spot dead center.
