Hi all,
I’m in the process of preparing a shoot with four cars in a studio. There are going to be four different (huge) backdrops and each car will have different elements composited on top (sparks, snow, leaves, petals). We are going to use motion control camera to get the different passes. The sparks, snow, etc.. will be shot in high speed at fast speed in the motion control rig to get them in slow motion.
I would like to know what do you suggest to use as background when we are shooting the different elements (sparks,…). Shall we just keep the same lights as in the beauty pass, or kill most of the lights and just try to light the elements, or use green screen, or a black screen?
I would also like to hear of any comments or recommendations you might have about this shoot.
Thank you.

The light for the beauty pass will most likely be set-up to make the cars look good.
Pulling a key or adding the elements as additive later should be easiest when shot in front of black.October 26, 2009 at 2:09 am #216491AnonymousInactiveThanks for the input Andrew. Im thinking about going with Motion Control next time I buy some motors. Good to know they are fairly good quality.
