I am a digital media student and I want to do a compositing project by integrating a 3d object into a video but I can’t think of any good ideas. I will need to shoot the video on my camera then design a 3d object to composite and track into the video. If anyone has any good ideas please let me know. I would prefer it to be an outdoors setting but can also be indoors.Thanks for any help and ideas.

I don’t know if it can help you, but what I am thinking when I read your topic/problem, is for example :– create typography, 3d text (as more advanced as possible, textures, etc), wich have sens, than add it to a video footage wich have link with the text. it can be funny think, dramatic, politic, engaged, pacific, ecologic, etc…
in this cas I think something complicated is not absolutly required, I think something just correctly increasded int the footage, I mean good integration, tracking, etc… with a litlle sens of your words I think it can be cool.
example ? one idea right now : comic, I mean humoristic scene : footage : road with cars , then the typography can come from the sky (falling), or from the ground or from effect like particles or smoke, etc then the text is formed (when no cars are driving),
so when cars arrives the text wiil be exploding or “ecraser’ (french) by cars…..(it is just an example, nothing special, just to help you inspired)I don’ t know what is your level designer, what is your software using, etc… if you are advanced 3d creator, maybe, and it is another idea, nothing else,
why not create clothes, or armured that you will adjust to the video footage, for example you, a person who is saved in the video !?Other idea (but looks hard to do) : film water, lac or river, etc… then create a thing, monster, fish who is jumping out of the water…?!
Or just a text, nice typography wich is jumping from the water to the exterior of the water…?!Anyway, I hope it is waht you expected, I hope it can help you to find inspiration !
in all cases, if you do something, I would be very interested to see what you will do, I mean a digital art student can do, just by “curiosity” !
Maybe you can try something in architecture?and than translate your style?
