Hi all…
I have been trying to create nfs exports from to tiger to irix for a couple days now. I have done this before with no problem, but not with tiger. I have gone over the fxguide tutorial a couple times now, and I still can not make it work. The irix machine has no trouble seeing the mac as a host, and it can even see its exports. But, when I try and mount the exports it gives me a permissions error, and something about there not being a valid file system. I have also tried using nfs manager ( http://www.bresink.de/osx/NFSManager.html ) but with the same results. Has anyone done this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

THere was a topic with smb after upgrading may Macs to Tiger, though, it had been covered here, I believe. THe passwords are being sent encrypted since Tiger, and maybe that is causing your nfs to fail, too.
Just a quick thought….

I installed Samba (get it from http://www.samba.org ) on IRIX, using SWAT to configure it and then just connect with smb://[email protected] . Pretty fast and stable.
I did it the other way, too. Using Sharity (which lets you connect to 2 servers for free) on the SGI, I can get files from our 3d-Renderserver (Win2K) without moving my hand more than getting them from the internal library.regards
