No clue where to begin

Hi. I hope this is the right forum to ask this. Ive no fx experience at all and I have a tricky shot I’d like to try. Its a locked off shot of the side of a face filling half the screen, with a wall in the background. On that wall is supposed to be a creature (live person in makeup) crawling across it. I have no idea where to begin and was hoping to be pointed in the right direction. I thought maybe to recreate the wall on a floor, have the camera pointing down, and have the actor crawl across that. Then key it in, but again, I have no clue.

yeah that sounds about right.

The question is the face.

Is the face:
over a green or blue screen?
defocused?
sharp?

Cause once you extract the face (separate if from the bg) then you can put over anything you like.
