    So I got a Particle Generator on a light. I want to make a star bust effect. So I have a image as my Particle Draw and its a white on black star. This all works great, my problem is I want them to fade out randomly. So I added a Particle Manipulator that has the function…

    transparency=sin(lifetimel)*power

    Will this not work on Node based Particles?

    It seems not. Can you do what you want with Quad or Square particles, with your star image applied as a texture? Much faster that way, too.
