PBR lighting

    hi all

    i was going through an article in fxguide where i came across this term ‘PBR lighting’.
    i couldnt find much info about it online..
    can anyone explain me about it…pls guys

    PBR would be Physically Based Rendering I believe.

    Assuming it’s not Pabst Blue Ribbon, yeah.

    Though i’m no expert, I believe it’s effectively the same as HDR lighting with light probes, ball enviorment maps and the like.

    Take a bunch of pictures of the area, light with that.

    PBR is Physically based lighting
    It does not require an image in order to use it but it benifits greatly from using one.

    IBL – image based lighting
    FG – Final Gather
    GI – Global illumination

    all are an attempt to replicate the look and functionality of “Real Lighting”
    however they all work a bit differently.
