Hey,
does anyone know how to change the colors, cursors and fonts like shown in this tip?
http://www.fxguide.com/fxtips-136.htmlkind regards,
philJune 17, 2008 at 11:53 am #216870bnwParticipantDo the instructions there not work on current versions? I haven’t tried since 9.5 but it worked on that.
There’s a set I made here: http://www.fxguide.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4287&highlight=icons
June 17, 2008 at 12:01 pm #216871bnwParticipantOh wait, you mean the text button colours and that. That’s all in a text file somewhere in /usr/discreet/flame_9.5/menu/… I forget which. Hm… have a dig 🙂 I recall it’s a bit of a battle working out which line affects which buttons.

you mean i have to do each button and field separately?
i thought there is one global color setting that i could change.
maybe i’ll stick to the blue…
i did the icons already. that was an easy but funny task.
i tried to figure out how to change the colors but i wassn’t lucky so far.regards,

** CAUTION – Please backup your files to prevent data loss! Proceed with the following at your own discretion**
There are several ways to customize your flame/smoke systems. The following instructions can be applied to 2008/2009 versions of flame/smoke running on RHEL 4. For these examples, I will be working in context to flame 2008 sp3. All modifications have to be made with root permissions.
To modify your system desktop image, log in as a root user and navigate to this path:/usr/discreet/flame_2008.SP3/bin/res/kdeEnv/
The file you need to backup is labeled as: linuxBackground.png
Create your own image @ 1920x1200px and save it as a PNG with the same name as listed above. After you have backed up the original image file, copy your file to the same path as above. Log out from the system and log back in as a normal flame user. You should see your new image on the KDE desktop.
To modify your system splash screen, log in as a root user and navigate to the following path:/usr/discreet/flame_2008.SP3/bin/res/
The files you need to backup are labeled as:
title
title.flameEDUThese files are listed as SGI files on the Linux platform. Back these files up. Create your own image that you would like to see on the flame/smoke splash screen. You will have to allow room for the project selection menu that comes up during the app launch. I have not documented how many pixels are needed. I would use a copy of the backup file as a template for clearance.
Create your custom splash screen image @ 1920x1200px and save it out as an 8-bit SGI file. I have only done this on the windows side of things. If you are saving your image from a Mac or Linux, I cannot guarantee the following to work.-save your file to a known location.
-locate that file and rename it by removing the .sgi extension from it. If you do not see the extension in windows, you will need to edit your folder options and uncheck the “hide extensions for known file types” option under the VIEW tab. (title.sgi –> title)Windows will throw a small fit and verify if you really want to do this. Do it. Once you have removed the extension, you will need to make a copy of that same file. You will end up with two copies of the same image with two different names:
title
title.flameEDUCopy these files to your flame (or smoke system) at this path:
/usr/discreet/flame_2008.SP3/bin/res/
Log out from the root login and log in as a normal flame user. Launch the software and enjoy.
To modify your icons in the batch and action module, log in as a root user and navigate to this path:/usr/discreet/flame_2008.SP3/menu/icons/
Here you will find a large collection of SGI file that represent many buttons and nodes used in flame. Backup the files to a safe location. Use these files as your starting point to customize at your hearts content. Save your files naming them exactly as the images you want to replace. Place them in the directory listed above. Log off the system and log in as a normal flame user and watch all your hard work pay off.
I hope this helps answer the original question of this thread. Enjoy your modding.July 2, 2008 at 1:26 pm #216868abhishekParticipantJust a quick question! Is it possible to apply these icons to each user?

As far as I am aware, since these changes effect the system globally, you cannot apply these per user. If someone out there has a hack around it, I would be interested in learning it.

unfortunately that’s not exactly what i’m looking for.
i’m looking for a way to change the general color of the menues and buttons.
the default discreet blue.
like someone did in the screenshots here:
http://www.fxguide.com/fxtips-136.html
the first one has just the color changed. the second has the icons aswell. i did the icons already. but i didn’t found a way to change the color pattern yet.
it’s not blue anymore. it’s red. pretty cool in my opinion :D.cheers
August 8, 2008 at 2:48 pm #216869bnwParticipantIf you have a look at the files in the menu folder with a text editor, you’ll find the one with the colours in… it’s long, and a pain to dig through, but it is there…
