Toronto, ON, [February 15, 2011] — Dr. Parag Havaldar of Sony Pictures Imageworks joins an impressive roster of presenters and panelists confirmed for BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER, a conference on previsualization and virtual production presented by the Screen Industries Research and Training Centre (SIRT http://www.sirtcentre.com) at Pinewood Toronto Studios. Havaldar, a pioneer in stereoscopic imagery and performance capture technologies, will showcase the technologies developed for and used to bring Tim Burton’s Academy Award® nominated (Outstanding Visual Effects) Alice in Wonderland and other Sony projects to the screen. Also confirmed is Rob Burton, VP Technology at Starz Animation Toronto (Gnomeo & Juliet), who will case study Starz’ new stereoscopic short, Lovebirds.
BRINGING IT ALL TOGETHER is the first international conference dedicated to previsualization and virtual production, two processes that give key creatives (including directors, cinematographers, designers, editors and VFX artists) the opportunity to “see” their work in three dimensions at the earliest stage of the production process. Ontario is fast becoming a hub for previs and virtual production and is well represented at the conference by local talent that includes: Darren Cranford, Keyframe Digital Productions Inc. (X-Men, Zombieland, Red); Steven Hoban, Producer, Copperheart Entertainment (Ryan, Splice); Aaron Weintraub, Co-Founder, Mr. X (Tron: Legacy, Scott Pilgrim vs The World); David Footman, Director, Ubisoft Toronto; and Lui Francisco, Art Director, Bedlam Games Inc. (Scratch: The Ultimate DJ).
Delivering the conference’s keynote address is David Morin, Chair of the U.S. Committee on Virtual Production, a joint initiative of the American Society of Cinematographers, Art Directors Guild, Visual Effects Society, Producers Guild of America, International Cinematographers Guild and the Previsualization Society. He’ll be joined by Previsualization Society founding members Ron Frankel (The Green Hornet; The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) and Brian Pohl (I, Robot, Open Season and Star Trek).
