How much processing power would be needed to work with 2k, 4k, 6k, and 8k graphics in real time? All in 32bit color space.

Where can I get these figures? It’s hard to find information that breaks this down.

I’m trying to find out how much CPU power I would need to work in a real time 32bit 8k post production pipeline. It’s important that the system be snappy.

A single 8k image file would average 333megs.
An 8k image sequence at 24fps would average 7.9 gigs.
    8k one minute = 479.52 gigs.
    8k one hour = 28.7 terabytes.

Why don’t you try asking someone from Pixar and/or Digital Domain maybe they can help you. Ask the guys that sell Nuke what it will take for Nuke to perform that. Ask like you were buying even if you are not 😉 James Cameron the owner of DD has done work for IMAX maybe they will know about it and if you are a client they probably would help you

About Realtime 8K and I don’t think that is possible right now…
Speculating, I am thinking that you might be able to do it on a custom computer…
Maybe a variation of IBM BlueGene or a SGI Altix system that can link up to 512 processors as a single image… Then again you would need custom software for it.
