Hi guys,
I’m in a process of choosing hardware for my new station. It will be quad core Mac Pro, 23″ Apple Cinema, one of AJA cards or Blackmagic for digital beta connection.
I’m not a Mac guy, never worked on it for real. Maybe you guys can help me make a final setup. The station will be used with Final Cut studio for coforming, editing, a bit of Motion and color correction. 1 23″ display is enough for my desktop + broadcast CRT for me, and big 36+ LCD over my head on the wall for clients. Will the standard Mac Pro + one of AJAs card will cover that, or will I have to buy some kind of digital signal divider that will put the same image to LCD for client and CRT.Another question is for external raid storage. I was thinking about something like http://www.sonnettech.com/product/fusiond500p.html . The problem is that I need the speed as well as data security, so raid 0+1 is a must. Is it doable with 2 of those that i linked above ?
Thanks for any info regarding that matter.
Cheers

You should be able to use either component analog or SDI loop-through on either the CRT or client LCD to feed the same signal to both.
The AJA Kona LHe is a great card – it has both SDI and analog I/O, along with hardware HD downconversion. If you need hardware HD upconversion, go with the Kona 3.
As for the RAID, check out products from CalDigit and Dulce Systems. Check out the posts on Creative Cow forums from Bob Zelin, he’s had a lot of experience with this.
