Rounded corners on squares+rectangles???
I still have v2.1 but wondered if v3 has the ability to make rounded corners on Retangular/Square shapes in paint mode? I’m new to Combustion and can’t seem to figure the cleanest approach in making rouned corners in v2.1. (is there a way to set the corner radius???) Should I be use Illustrator? Well…. Thanks in advance!

draw your rectangle shape in “stroke” mode.
copy/past it into the same paint op and change the mode of the copy to “filled”cheers,

There is a way to make your shape edges soft without having to go to the brushes.
Create your shape (clone, paint, whatever).
Ensure that the shape is selected and go to the “Gradient” sub-menu. You will see an option called “Edge gradient”. Click on the option and choose one of the three available methods.
Adjust the sliders of each option when they appear and choose which one is good for you. You can animate the slider values too.
Hope this helps.

maybe there’s something I didn’t realized, but how exactly do you get rounded corners out of “edge gradient”?
I just tried it (I never know, if my memory fools on me when trying something to memorize) and all I got was softer edges.cheers,

Reading back, I misunderstood the question… It happens 😳
That will only give soft edges…..as you pointed out.
I do have a solution though. You could use illustrator or even 3dsmax to output an AI file with the rectangle with rounded edges.
This would be imported into combustion as a vector based object which can be added and edited.

Create a rectangle in paint, put a gaussian blur on it, the assign a ‘gamma/pedestal/gain’ operator to it. Up the gain, Down the pedestal & have a play with the gamma control, you should be able to get a nice rounded corner rectangle from that (adjust the gaussian blur to get the rounding you want)
If you have a really large blur, you may need to use x2 stacked CC operators to get rid of it
