I’m dealing with an encoded version of an older 16mm print which has significant scratches. Using ScratchRepair from Furnace 3.0v3 in Shake 4.0 brings fairly good results, but there are problems. Some of the scratched footage is in a credit sequence, and while the scratch is done away with, some of the lettering of the credits also either disappears or flickers. If I set the scratch “finder” bulls eye as far from the lettering as the frame allows that usually fixes the problem with the lettering. Unfortunately, it also prevents the plug in from effacing the scratch for its entire length. Suggestions please. FYI I run a dual 2.7 G5 under OSX 10.5.7.

And while we’re at it, does anyone know of any tutorials for Furnace? I have the fxGuide DVD of Furnace Production Tips, but this doesn’t really provide any tutorials.

ive never used the spark, but, i can imagine that scrolling text could be super nasty to deal with.

remember, you will never be able to do this all in one pass. you certainly are going to need to do multiple solves for different parts, and combine them manually.
