Hey all.
Shake has been updated to fix a serious QuickTime incompatibility. You can now use Shake to render greater-than-8-bit color into QuickTime files. This functionality was broken by a series of circumstances that followed the Intel transition.
It’s a fix of major importance to anyone who wants to do high-quality renders of their comps to QT files.
Note that Shake still does not support interframe-compressed codecs like H.264 and MPEG-2; they require a different QuickTime API that Shake does not use. However, you wouldn’t want to archive your comps to lossy formats like that anyway. As it stands, you can render out a high-quality version and then use Compressor to churn out other formats.
