    Hi…

Well, I see that a lot of post production houses are using Shake nowadays… but, is Shake a good alternativa to Combustion? What´s the difference between C2.1 and Shake 2.5?

    Thanx in advance…

    Hi,

Shake 2.5 is a very good tool for compositing however that is on of its only strongest points. It is slightly faster then combustion. However when it comes to painting tools and more fully rounded toolset combustion would probably be a better option for compsoting, motion graphics etc.

Shake is a node based compositor where combustion is a layer based compositor (more like After Effects).

Also price-point is a consideration. Shake is at $5000 for MAC $10000 for Windows. Combustion is $995 for both Mac and PC….

Well its very dificult to say. I think its a matter of operator wich what software he started to work. Of course i can understand that shake at the moment is very used because that combustion came later on market. Personaly for me, i think shake is realy very fast software and with nodes its more comfortable to work. Otherwise Combustion 2.1 is much faster than 2.0 and I made some hard core tests with one very bad bluescreen shooting on both of packages. I can say that Combustion has the best Keyer ever. There where primate and all other keyer failed at shake combutions discreet keyer helped us to finish keyeing very fast and with amazing results. Lot of color corections that i make i can only suggest to use discreet color corector…my opinion is that discreet color corector (coming from Flame engine) is much better that from shake. Last but not least, only the results of work are the ones that counts. May choice and where I am very satisfied is Combustion.
