Long time reader, first time poster.
I got a project coming up that is being shot using the Varicam and P2 chip. The DP and the Director have both decided to shoot at 720/24p native. After everything is “unwrapped”, I will be offlining the spots in Final Cut at 720/24p. I will be onlining at Standard def. Not really a big deal. The trick is getting all the media from the FCP to smoke. The client doesn’t want to pay for getting the footage transferred onto DVCPro HD tapes.
I have Xstoner 2.1 and will soon have the latest version of smoke/flame loaded. I was thinking that the best workflow would be to:
Offline -> get approval from client -> Media manage the project in FCP -> Make .xml -> Import footage into smoke through Xstoner using Media managed footage -> Conform at 24p -> Do all the effects at 24p -> Add pulldown -> Output.
Does this sound about right? Does anyone see any problems? Am I missing anything? All comments will be greatly appreciated.

We loaded without compression (or without adding more compression) in FCP and then the editor gave me a Tiff sequence full res of the approved cut. I load it in Flame, i did the effects, mostly greenscreens, add the pulldown, and worked fine.
