I have an animation that I have rendered out from C4D using Mograph to make an object start out exploded and come back together over time.

I rendered out with a Matte and and an external compositing tag to get 3D info into AE.

When I attach a picture to the object in AE it “slips” on the object as it comes together…

Is there anyway to make the picture “stick” to this object in AE?

    Regards,

    Chris

The external compositing tag is only going to give you coordinate data for a single null (animated or not) from C4D. What it sounds like you are trying to do is actually retexture a surface inside of AE and to do that you’ll need a 2D image that gives you more information about where those actual surfaces are in 3D space..and that’s a UV render pass. One way is to use the “Youveelizer” plugin for AE along with a UV render pass from C4D in order to re-texture inside of AE. You’ll need to render your UV pass at at least 16bpc and work in AE at either 16bpc or 32bpc. Maltaannon has a great tutorial about it here.
