Have to love flash… is it only at my place that the Autodesk banner takes 50% of the CPU? This in Firefox 3.5.7 in WinXP64sp2.

    Cheers

Yeah this is definitely an issue for me too, although it’s using only about 12-15% of my quad core it’s still annoying. This was bugging my for a while trying to track down which site was causing it, thanks for the heads up. 🙂

Does this banner really need to be animated? I’m sure we can all be coaxed to check out Autodesk Smoke without the animated background to sell it 😉

It’s a bug in Flash and not our site…the issue really depends on specific versions and browsers and doesn’t impact everyone.

We intentionally have very few ads on our site (only two positions) so that they aren’t annoying for our readers. Consider the bug a small price to pay for a free resource. We go through a ton of costly bandwidth and have quite a few expenses to produce the materials here.
