Hi guys,
I got a 2000 frames shot that I need to timewarp (without plugins) this way :
At the begining everything has to be very fast then the clip has to slow down progressively until the end.
As we get to the end I want a slow motion thing, but I know Flame won’t interpolate frames like Retimer or Twixtor will but still…The whole thing needs to be within 350 frames.
I checked the curves in the TW editor but it’s giving me a hard time.
I’m still trying to find solutions.
But if anybody knows how to do such a timwwarp, let me know I’ll appreciate it.Thanks,

February 15, 2006 at 11:22 pm #212012kalthansParticipantwhat is the nature of the footage? was it shot overcranked to begin with? the nature of the footage will often dictate how successful extreme timewarps will play out.
the TW curves on flame are easy to manipulate graphicaly…you can manipulate/keyframe either the Speed or the Timing (or both).
however you are right in your assumption that going slower than realtime will generate substandard results. if you don’t have access to the newer versions of flame/smoke (9.5/7) with the improved motion-estimation timewarping i’d suggest spending the money on a 3rd party app like ReTimer.

usually i find the timing curve easier to handle.
do to the maths the 2 curves are linked & influence each other – the speed curve beeing the more indirect of the 2.if you want a continuous decrease of speed adjust the handle of the end keyframe to match the desired end speed, then tweak the start keyframe to get a smooth overall curve.
actually it doesnt matter too much if the speed curve doesnt look so smooth, as it reflects rather the change of speed not the speed itself.
i hope this isnt too confuse …the other issue is selecting interlaced or not according to the source + the interpolation & for speed under lets say 66% you could add some mix …
