Lol, I know. It’s a dumb question… but seriously… is it even comparable? What are the real differences?

What are the real differences?Toxik’s workflow, and interface totally rawk IMO, but it’s missing alot of the tools that make flame such a pleasure to work with. No extended bicubics, modular/3D keyer, or colour warper. It also needs to support custom EXR channels. That being said, I think it’s got real potential if they take care of that stuff. Remember, it’s only version 1.1 at this point.

March 8, 2007 at 3:32 pm #212555Grayden ParkParticipantHey rohit, what is that specific use for da Toxik?
March 8, 2007 at 4:09 pm #212552Saran SirikasamsapParticipanti guess it would
a) media management for film pipelines [master station] andb) film/video/hd compositiing tool [ but with very basic features ][the slave stations] ]……
but there are things in toxik that flame doesn’t have…download the tutorials from the discreet web page and see it..i actually prefer the work flow in toxik as opposed to flame, the tracker is the same as flame.. the colour correction tools seem way better than flame, i haven’t seen the latest version but believe it has more improvements.. i personally think, as someone else mentioned on this site a few weeks ago, that merging combustion into toxik will make toxik an amazing product.. what few tools it has are amazing, but toxik v2 is like a young virgin when compared to flame 9.5xx which is a mature sexy gal 🙂 [ sorry for the sexist humor, but i always consider my flame my best girl ! ]
March 8, 2007 at 4:22 pm #212556Grayden ParkParticipantCool thanx rohit. Coming from an AE background then merging to Flame I find myself in the process of looking for a new “sexy gal” and after reading what you just wrote about Toxik and doing a little online research it seems like Fusion is the way to go. However I do a lot of supervised commercial work? What are your thoughts if you have the time?
March 8, 2007 at 4:32 pm #212553Saran SirikasamsapParticipantstick with flame..autodesk is not stupid..they will fix the issues with flame at some point..and in my opinion at the end of the day, flame IS the benchmark, the standard..just like quantel HAL/editbox and henry were in the last millennium…stick with flame, learn combustion inside – out and see if u can play with toxik… like i mentioned in http://www.fxguide.com/postt2483.html its knowing the techniques that matter, not which software..so in my opinion its better to learn the techniques with flame/combustion and toxik.

March 9, 2007 at 5:13 am #212551Saran SirikasamsapParticipanti mean u wouldn use toxik for some simple-edl-conform-from-final-grade-telecine-add-on-some-type-on-the-pack-and dump-to-tape-kinda-job!..it would obviously be something nice and meaty..so then those tools would come in handy..

March 9, 2007 at 4:10 pm #212545chrisParticipantdoh! sorry i didnt get the typed sarcasm! 🙄
in all fairness, toxik’s toolset is coming along at a really nice pace finally and im biting my toungue about the upcoming stuff. NAB is just around the corner and with any luck its all revealed. its never been touted as a flame replacement and im not trying to indicate anything by this tease, but what i am saying is that its growing into a useable, mature product thats pretty forward thinking and fresh.
