Hi guys,
This new tool from Discreet is pretty impressive.
The gate UI philosophy is great.
I’ve been using Flame for 2 years, After Effects, had my head Shaked by apple ( very nice tool ), then I got intoxikated.I thought Toxik was pretty raw in term of fancy tools/plugins (no EdgeRays, no Timewarper, no Warper, no Particles…).
But eventually I could start to use it in production, then I try the Tracker, and it sucks so much that I’ll wait for a version with a tracker that can follow a target a blind man would.Does Discreet have nice trackers in all their softwares ?
Before toxik, the answer was yes.Best regards,
Alfafa.April 9, 2006 at 3:56 am #212719AnonymousInactiveThe tracker — I’ve been told by the software engineers — is really the same as the tracker in flame and smoke. One thing to note, though, is that you need to expand the tracking area to be twice as large as you’re used to doing in flame/smoke.
This got me initially….as I thought the tracker was worthless. Once I expanded the region, all was well and it tracked as I expected.

all the trackers of discreet (combustion, FFI, Toxik and others) is the same?

I think the discreet tracker is cool, but I did a lot of tracking in shake and this tracker is very good. And if you have done some tracking jobs with monet or mofex you know how a tracker should work. Hopefully I have the chance to test the new version of Toxik in a few days. Perhaps then I can say something more about the tracker in Toxik.

May 5, 2006 at 2:53 pm #212723NoriakiParticipantI tested the tracker on 4k plates with :
Flame, Combustion, After Effects ant Toxik..And I still think that Toxik’s tracker sucks.
Toxik’s tracker better than Flame, that’s the joke of the year.
Rohit, you seem to be a pretty funny guy.
P.S. : I tested Toxik v1, let’s hope v2 is better.
Cheers,

Alfafa. As I mentioned earlier, the engineers in Montreal strongly have said that it is the same tracker. But I’ve also had my doubts regarding this (though I’ve also done replicating tests between Flame and Toxik which have turned out to be the same) You should send in the clips to Autodesk….I do know they’d love to see them. email me if you need a contact for that. If they weren’t 4K I’d check it out myself 🙂
May 6, 2006 at 11:41 pm #212725Saran SirikasamsapParticipantdidnt know i sounded funny…toxiks tracker behaves quite similar to the old JALEO tracker… ive tried it on quite a few shots and its rock solid..as john pointed out, one has to expand the trk area…i also found the roaming option [equiv to keeping “fixed off” in flame] to give pretty accurate tracks
May 7, 2006 at 12:00 pm #212721summerJParticipantI an few days I will get a beta of toxik 2007. and I will also have a project, which i will tackle or try to 😉 tackle with toxik. Hopefully then many questions will be answered.

i like aftereffect tracking method better….
February 7, 2008 at 3:43 am #212720chrisParticipantits the same tracker core.
you might also lower the tolerance of the tracker box slightly.
