I am trying to find out, why sometimes, when i am tracking and want to pick a new point to track with the add procedure it usually works but a lot of the time the tracker just flies off.
I go into add mode and hold down control, but sometimes it doesnt seem to pick up on the new reference, moving the search area over the new track location seem to compound the problem even futher. I am sure it’s a quirky gotcha that i don’t know about. What do i need to do, to avoid this??

Are you tracking forward or backward?
When you are tracking backwards you need to use the snap button.

both ways, but since you mention it is properly more frequent in backwards tracking

As far as I know, the add procedure only works if you are tracking forward…
