    Hey guys,
I cannot workout for the life of me why I cannot track video footage onto this shot of a 3D TV I’ve done. Ive tried reading the help file Combustion has, but whether I try using Scale or Positon or even both, I just can’t get it to actually *stick* on the front of the TV like it is playing on there. Been at this for days and it’s driving me up the wall! Ive included a screen capture if someone can see what I’m doing wrong…in need of some serious help here! Thank you!

u have got to set the tracker to position not scale the try lowering the tolerance to say 50%. Put the main problem is that you are doing it the wrong way …the best result would be to map the video footage on to the TV geometry in the 3d app or at least export the camera animation from the 3d app to combustion, tracking cgi almost almost always the wrong technique.

The best option is render a RPF file ( if you use Combustion 4 and MAX 8 use the render elements and G-Buffer Builder) with object/material ID and use the texture map of Combustion for apply a footage in screen of TV. Or use the corne pin features (layer) and use four trackers. Look a the help for as to use the tracker in Combustion

i have to agree what softer an vympel said.
just wanted to add that what you after is called “corner pinning”
consult the help for this topic…

in the layer options there is a button called “4 corner”. when you enable it you can grab every corner of your footage and also track it.

this of course makes only sense with “real” footage, not a rendered 3d sequence.

    hope this helps.

    cheers

Note that you need the Composite operator to be in 3D mode to get 4 corner layers, for some reason. Looks there that it’s not, since you don’t have a Camera in the Workspace. Change it in the Output section of the operator controls.
