Hello Mike Jeff and John
I haven’t been able to download the last 2 podcast the connection always times out.
I use Panther and Itunes 6 and have a cable connection
Thanks
December 6, 2005 at 3:40 am #211262John MontgomeryKeymasterThanks for asking. First off…I think you know we’re all mac heads, so we’d notice issues if they happened on the mac 🙂
It could totally be our problem, but there seem to be some issues with timeouts and podcasts. There’s a thread over on MacFixit about it:

Jeff had some problems as well…but they ended up going away. Have you tried the direct download link?

December 6, 2005 at 4:19 am #211264AnonymousGuestI have had no problems since the very first podcasts. I try to test every podcast by listening to the subscription inside iTunes as soon as it goes live. I also usually click the link in the story and listen to the first few minutes.
All has been fine. Mac OSX 10.4.3, iTunes 6.0.1, DSL at home, high speed access at work.

January 8, 2006 at 3:38 am #211268AnonymousInactiveHi All! Let me say first that I am really happy to find these programs! It’s nice to finally hear topical converasations on VFX on a regular basis. I would, however, like to save several of them on my iPod to listen during commute time, etc. Unfortunately, I don’t see a way to download past episodes, import them into iTunes, and move to my iPod for later listening. I am sort of new to Podcasts, and most things iPod, so a gentle nudge in the right direction is appreciated. I am viewing the site with Firefox 1.5, BTW. Thanks in advance for your patience.
January 8, 2006 at 4:10 am #211265AnonymousGuestIf you are using iTunes the easy way is to subscribe to our podcasts within iTunes.
This link will launch iTunes for you http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=78811731&s=143441
OR
Open iTunes, goto the music store, podcasts – then search for fxguide in upper right. Subscribe.
OR
Go to any podcast from the fxguide main page and in the upper right of each story there is a box with a link to Subscribe.Once in iTunes you can set iTunes to keep all episodes, the most recent or only the ones you have not listened to yet. These can be listened to either in iTunes or you can setup to load to an iPod.
If you want to listen in a browser you can see all podcasts here:

January 8, 2006 at 4:28 pm #211263John MontgomeryKeymasterOK Paul, ye ask and ye shall receive. 🙂
First off, you should be able to save the file within the media player which is opened when you click the “Listen” link. This is useful if you listen to it on the computer but want to also save for reference later.
But I’ve added a “download” link of sorts to the main article pages. Right click on the link to download and save to your computer. Its not really a direct download (there are some stupid ways that web browsers always want to play media files), but it’ll get the job done for you for now.
January 8, 2006 at 8:54 pm #211266paul_roundParticipantSorry John, I don’t have any option to save in the player, (using QT7) and I can’t find anything under the downloads section. By the way, thanks for the quick response, I would love to listen tothese podcasts on my journey into work which is a one hour train journey.
Cheers
