Hi folks !
I’ve a very general question about sound integration on films like cinema, smaller demoreel, etc. About sound effects, no problem, they are done on the video playback, ok. But what about the music ? Do studios do music track and then edit the video on the sound, or do they finalize video track, and then put the music on it ?
I don’t have such work to do, I don’t work for cinema and so, but I’m very curious about how pipeline/workflow is regarding that. Thanks

Usually the picture is finalised before the bulk of the sound design is done, the music will be being composed to spec during and after the picture edit.
Kinda sucks for both parties, since the picture guys don’t get to edit with final audio and the composers have to work without picture, or finish up extremely fast once the edit is done. Such is life 🙂
