What are your opinions of schools to learn visual effects/compositing? I live in Florida so i’ve been looking at Full Sail and The DAVE School. Is a degree from a 4-year college worth more? I’m going to be graduating with a BS in psych and minor in comp science from UF, but i want to be a visual effects artist. thanks for any help.

Hey fussion, I currently attend The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. We have a major in Visual Effects and Motion Graphics; and I in my fifth quarter out of 12. It’s a very good school, give it a try.

hello fusion23, I go to Full Sail and unfortunatly, I wouldn’t recommend it for Visual Effects, they do not teach any Discreet products, and don’t really focus on Visual Effects in any of their degree programs. One class in computer animation uses Shake, one class in Film uses Avid DS, and one class in Digital Media uses After Effects. If you want to go into 3D or motion graphics that’s another story, but when you say visual effects I am assuming you mean primarily compositing.
