would you write english, please. perhaps then somebody can help you.
Merci,
Marc Hall
October 26, 2005 at 7:26 pm #210975RaykParticipantyep, maybe a short summarize in english would help.
i can only guess, ’cause i’ve never learned french, but i get the impression that the original poster is somewhat “unsatified” with combustion, to put it in more polite words. 😉-rayk
October 26, 2005 at 8:57 pm #210970AnonymousGuestI have a valid license…by the way, if you have a phone number for the combustion support give it to me please…
I’m working with .dpx 10 bit log.
Windows XP SP2 english
Asus NCT-D
2 x xeon 2.8, 1MB cache EMT64, 800fsb, HT
4 x Samsung 1024 DDR2
Western Digital raptor 36GB (system drive)
Maxtor 300GB SATAII, 16MB cache (frames drive)
PNY QuadroFX 540 PCIeI’m actually using combustion 4.0.1… when I take a look at the 4.0.2 readme, I can’t see nothin that could fix one of my bugs…
And yeah, I have other bugs that kill me…
bug like:
Open cineon sequence 10bit log
add a bit depth converter (log to lin, film gamma = 1.7, 10bit to 16bit, use lut on)
add a draw selection and draw a selection
add a discreet color corrector without using it (you don’t even need to use it to have the bug)
then add a remove selection ( you could put any node after and you’ll have the problem…
Now, take a look at the result and you’ll see a dark line create by your draw selection and if you play with feather you will enlarge the line.the workaround is to work lin-8bit or lin-float… but you know what, I want to work in 16 bit…
so the selection in combustion only work (well) in lin-8bit or lin-float…
wow… hope you understand the bug…
my friends and I have a huge list of bugs that Autodesk has been notified of many of these problems and has yet to address them.
Thanks!
October 26, 2005 at 9:03 pm #210971AnonymousGuestI was saying that combustion is a piece of crap… I’m using it since paint & effect… I gave this software his chance… I’m pissed off… why add tools like ” capsules” when the software crash cuz you’re copy/pasting a node in the schematic…. Then you load the recovery workspace and you see that 2 hours of hard working is gone…
October 26, 2005 at 9:41 pm #210978artifexParticipantHello the support number is: 1-877-347-2733
Or in Montreal call: 514-954-7550The shematic view crash is fixed, I’ve tryed it on several machines with several different OS.
I was able to reproduce the black line bug in the new version of combustion.
So the bug is now logged and the developpers will soon address it.
We have a list and we are working at correcting all of them. We take the major ones and move down the list, but belive me, they are addressed.
Don’t hesitate to call and give us other bugs.
Regards,
Marc Hall

October 27, 2005 at 3:53 pm #210972AnonymousGuestHello everyone, I’d like to appologise for my initial post yesterday. I was really irritated with the fact that I was constantly being faced with new and old bugs in Combustion and it was and is slowing me down, it prevents me from being an artist and forces me to be more technical in finding workarounds as to be able to finish my work on time…
That being said I must remind everyone that I’ve been using Combustion since it’s beggining for the reason that I like the toolset and workflow, It’s great…so I might of gotten of on the wrong foot ( hope everyone can forgive ) and I hope we can all constructively push this compositing solution to become a stronger and more stable one.
Sincerely!
Danny
