I want to go into post production- editing. I would like to eventually edit for movies but I know that takes time. That being said would it be more practical to,learn to edit for TV. Or is it really that different? I feel as though film editing should basically be the same no matter the final medium. But am I wrong?

thats a loaded question, as it is the same, but it is also different. First thing being, when you say TV, do you mean narrative shows ala CSI:Miami, reality shows, network sports, news……TV is many different styles.

Movies will have a much longer turn around time. TV editing turn around times are MUCH shorter, so in a lot of ways, TV can be tougher.

Then again, editing is editing, learn that first and it all falls into place
