So I’m trying to put together a workflow/toolset made up of various programs and could use some help. Hopefully a toolset with integration similar to what Adobe has with its CS Master Suite but specifically for high end 3D/Compositing etc… Here’s what I’m thinking:
Modo or Silo (Modeling)
ZBrush or Mudbox (Sculpting)
Mari (3D Coloring/UV)
Houdini (Animation/Particles)
XSI ??? (Rigging) <-- Who has the crown here?
???? (Rotoscoping/Tracking)
Photoshop
Final Cut Pro (Editing)
Color (Color Grading)
Nuke (Compositing)
Specialty Apps:
Realflow (Particles) or Houdini ???
Massive(Crowd Simulation) or Houdini ???
3D Coat or TopoGun (Retopology)
Are there any other recommended software packages? Specialty perhaps?
I didn’t include Maya, right now I’m leaning towards Houdini (the node workflow rocks).
What would your recommended toolset look like? I’m surprised there isn’t a pro suite for this with bundled software that integrates like CS. I think it would get interesting if The Foundry were to pick up Houdini and offer it along with Mari and Nuke along with some more apps.
