Hello. I,d like to know the faster way to pull a matte with flame when the original chroma footage is betacam digital. Is very hard to clean the borders and i can’t use shrink or erode because the image shape almost dissapear. Any tip or trick?

I guess I am very bias but I just LIVE in the modular keyer. This keyer is hands down the best keyer I have ever used. Other keyers can be quicker for a simple well shot key ( see Ultimatte avantedge article) but heck give me the MK anyday.. it is SO powerful and so flexible I can’t work these days without it.. add to that it contains the Colorwarper – a more powerful CC – and its game over.
We have a quicktime on using the MK. to the left on this page under SPECIAL REPORTS. It is a big download but if you’ve not braved the MK and want to pull off professional keyers in any situation – the MK is the way to go.
One further tip re the MK .. the inital graph or flow diagram you see when you enter the mk is just a helpful – pre build of what you most often want ( with the exception of not having the CW in the front pipe)… don’t be put off.. see the inital screen as a fast prebuild.. but you can delete nodes as much as you want – if you want to simplify things. Learn the MK – you be thankful for years that you did.

January 3, 2003 at 8:04 pm #206692AnonymousGuestO.K. I USE TO WORK WITH THE “CLASSIC” KEYER BECAUSE I THINK IS FASTER AND USUALLY I WORK WITH FILM BIT DEPHT, 2K RESOLUTION AND VERY PROFESSIONAL CREW TO SHADE AND SHOT THE CROMAS. I.M SURE THAT THE MODULAR KEYER IS THE SOLUTION FOR “LOW MONEY PROJECTS”.
THANK YOU.January 3, 2003 at 8:21 pm #206693AnonymousGuestLook I don’t want to sound like a broken record – but if I gave you the impression that the MK is for low budget jobs only – I am very sorry.
The MK is the best option for complex 12 bit film style keys .. not just digital beta shot material. Literally, it is much more intelligent than the old RGBCYMK keyer – think Ford vs BMW.
Anyway If the old keyer word for you great. But I would still recommend trying the MK !
