you can do the same that in the “Simple Vapor Particle System” (tips and tricks) and afther go to optics and add a glow from yellow to red or white to red… it´s not the best way but it works….. If you wont don´t put turbulence manipulators…
Glow works to make some explosions with simple particles!!!

I had the same question… i start working free in a postproducer enterpraise making a lot of matte paint and other hard works!!!!. I think you need a lot of luck to star works witch this system effects.
The way was knoking in all the doors that was posible…
