We installed a LTO4 one month ago and I’m very happy so far.
filipParticipantIt was moved. Now is close to the directory path on the top.
filipParticipantTry to convince the director to use bluescreen. With the white you’ll end up spending a lot of time trying to remove white edges on your actor, especially in the hair. If the the bluescreen is far away from the window you’ll be able to put some lights between the bluescreen and the window to achieve the same light effect.
filipParticipantAre you tracking forward or backward?
When you are tracking backwards you need to use the snap button.filipParticipantTry “reset all” in the channel animation and then undo.
That worked for me. Please save the setup before in case that the undo doesn’t work, but usually it works.filipParticipantWhen the tracking is done you have to select some of the tracking point and click convert. You’ll get a new camera and all the tracking point that you selected will become axes. Everything will be in the schematic. You don’t need to load any setup or camera.

Ona related note… has anyone upgraded from SGI to Linux recently? What was the cost of just the hardware upgrade, assuming that you already have a current software license, say with subscription also? Just round figures so I can get an estimate.

It’s around 50k changing all the hardware, CPU, Stones, monitors, etc…
We switch recently from Octane2 to Linux and the difference is huge.filipParticipantWhat if you create a big frame, 4k at 12 bits, and then resize it down?
filipParticipantGo to the animation menu and under your bilinear surface you’ll find the offsets (with S, no offset) form there you can move the corner without affecting the tracking
filipParticipantCompetition?
I’ll bet Autodesk is going to buy out The Foundry soon.filipParticipantWhen was using a Logitech mousse I couldn’t configure the middle button mousse. So what I did was unistall the mouse drivers and then the middle button started to work.
filipParticipantI used fx segment in three different projects. All of them with the same result. Very simple stuff, color correction and a couple of legals. A total nightmare. My machine was crashing the whole day with the clients sitting in the back looking at me.
I thought that I was saving time working in the batch timeline avoiding swapping the shot with dissolves and I was totally wrong.filipParticipantIf for clean up you mean wire removal, rig removal etc, I’d recommend you Furnace. Sometimes you get like 90% of the job done almost automatically.
filipParticipantYou can acces to the Flame Manual from the software. Under System click in the pop up menu “PDF Documentation”.
I don’t remember if Flame 8 has 3D tracker. Anyway is much better to track in Boujou or PF track and them import the data to the Flame.filipParticipantI did a a job a couple of months ago in DVCpro 720 24p. We loaded without compression (or without adding more compression) in FCP and then the editor gave me a Tiff sequence full res of the approved cut. I load it in Flame, i did the effects, mostly greenscreens, add the pulldown, and worked fine.
