the bottom line is there is a way lager profit margin iphones and the app store and all the other product than there is for a niche market like ours. i really hope that it is all we ever dreamt it would be and more (im bit of an apple fanboy), but realistically i just dont see them throwing as much at its development to really make it fill shakes shoes as we would like.
Yeah I mostly agree, but i think apple is still making some nice money out of selling mac pro, and who is going to buy them if there is not “pro” application to run on it. I think apple will continue dev final cut studio, but is not going to have a replacement for shake. Shake functionality will be spread in fcp, color, motion, etc…

Done this on gmask, but should be possible with 2DWarp tool. Link the animation of the source points to the destination points and then edit the expression by adding an offset of x pixel. Depending on how the scale of the offset change over frames it will ask a bit more expression to it (like a scale tracking data).
hope it might help or give ideas.

Also there are a few major differences now between 2007 and 2009 one of which (they may have made this change in 2008 not sure) is you have to tell the program to use your mediacache in user prefrences otherwise it caches into Ram which is good if you have a slow system but bad if you got a fast raid array.
Are you talking about the “Caching” settings under “Creative” tab in “User Preferences” menu, where you have 3 options: Image Import IR; Rendered Result IR and Create Import Proxy ?
Because all I do is turning on the “IR” button on each node I want to cache into the mediacache.
Thanks,

Were you running toxik on linux or microsoft windows? Thanks
Have fun testing the 2009.
Sorry cannot help you with maya integration, we are not using maya here, but I think you don’t need to have both applications on the same computer.
Thanks and cheers,

I am still having quite annoying issues whith toxik 2009 sp1, info and print screen have been sent to autodesk support, but for now no news, so I tought maybe somebody here has some idea. See the attached picture, that is an error message I get a lot of times, playing with GMask, Reaction node, grouping ungrouping, look to the backburner monitor windows and come back to toxik, etc….
It is always described as an access violation. Is there something with addressing the RAM, or is it related to a dpx header????Thanks,
antoine.
As a side note, I still think GMask needs more performance improvements, the Reaction node is not as stable as I wish.
Note that I am running toxik under microsoft windows.Filipp LepalaanParticipantHi,
I’ve got an update on lin2log workflow. It’s been discussed on the aera (http://area.autodesk.com/index.php/forums/viewthread/20197/) and I think it is very interesting.
To sum up, the “Log” tool in Toxik 2009 SP1 is not doing what’s expected and has a different result than the “Lin2Log” from both nuke and shake. A good workaround has been pulled of by Mark Rasmussen, so in case you need to convert Linear data to Log space, I encourage you to read this thread.
Autodesk has been informed of this issue and should work on the solution.cheers,

I am using right now the last toxik 2009 sp1 and the color correction with input mask problem is now GONE! Ahh, it feels so much better now. So good that I hold the linux install for later 😉
I will see if I encounter others performance problem, but this one was really the big harcel, as the comp posted above is actually the CG color correction part common to every comp, so I was having this issue on everyone of them.
More testing and reports to come.
For now I am a happy man. THANKS to everybody! Specially the toxik development team 😉

I have to admit that the title is provocative ;-), and that was both on purpose (to get reaction) and because I was a bit nervous.
What I have written is real experience and all the problems have been mentionned to autodesk support (at least I have reported them to my supervisor who is in direct contact with the support, and he is regulary on the phone for toxik related issue).I’m very happy to know that people are using it with satisfaction because it is also my wish.
BTW, can you tell me if Disney is using it on linux or on windows?Again thanks for your inputs.

Thanks for your input. I haven’t had the pleasure to meet you but had the one to listen to you in the 103 class. And I was kind of waiting your post, knowing you seemed very enthousiast about toxik on this course. And as I am already “adicted” to toxik UI, tools and workflow, yeah it helps that you jump and tell me “don’t let this one thing discourage you” 😉
About the tips, I have the GMask default to “absolute” crop and I set the same for 2D transform tool (BTW I would like to be able to save this preset like for the GMask tool, why is it not there?).
Charles, thanks as well for your input. Very good to know it is fixed. Is this service pack soon out?
Thanks a lot to everybody.
Have a nice one,
