Man, when it came to toxik I felt so lost with the UI and just going back to the workflow that all these “now autodesk” systems seem to have I felt completely lost. Your intor to Toxik is awesome and a must see for anyone wanting to become familiar with Toxik in general. Most people will know how to composite just not in a different application.

    Again great resource, much appreciated.

wow, thank you for that response, I’ll have to give it another try. I know that not coming from a flame, flint, inferno background Im not too familiar with that way of working. Deffinitly something I should spend sometime on.

There are quicktimes, dpx files, R3D files, stills, videos. Great resource.

I tried Toxik…..and I have to say Im not a fan of the interface of workflow. I much prefer Nuke or Fusion.

    Hope the link helps out.

just clarifying, I think he is looking for an option like in Photoshop or After effects like the “Layer Effects” (Difference, Multiply, Lighten, Darken etc)

Put your BG on a 3D card. Then use the 3D Displace node. I know you can use the luminance and other settings to animated the displace settings. I used this to have a ripple effect applied to a painting.

Let us know if this solved it for you

For avi files you can try an adobe product like AfterEffects or premiere, but I would suggest converting that file over using super, or another encoder. The only time we ever use avi here is when we need to playback something full screen on a slow laptop.

Trying to get an uncompressed or good looking video in avi is just a headache always use Quicktime or image sequences

I know the new version of Nuke deals with stereoscopic footage but maybe it could dead with this…..Maybe projection mapping the footage and stitching it together that way might work…To really give good advice on something like that its easier when you can see the footage and what the result should be but I hope I threw out some ideas for you and good luck.

Issue 16 of HDRI 3D has a pretty good tut on advanced keying with nuke by Brian Begun from Digital Domain.

Hope it helps, it helped me.

    Hello

Although I prefer Fusion and Nuke I find that After Effects CS3 can be quite powerful. If you can get around the constant render buffer errors. If you can deal with using proxies on huge camera pulls etc. If fusion and Nuke are out of your price range you are probably stuck with Shake and After effects and I may be one of the few but I dont like the idea of using an unsupported software package.

PS. Anyone heard of Apples so called Flame Killer? …lol

I havnt done any tests yet but you may just want to look through this and see if anything stands out like changing your bit depth from 8 or something.

I had this same problem when using ID Mattes out of 3DS Max with RPF and RLA File Formats. What is the purpose of using these for your shot. Maybe there is an easy work around if I know what you need to achieve.
