3d luts work fine in smoke (i guess from version6.5 up, not sure about linux)
you have to enter the path/name in the respective area in the init.cfg & youre fine
some samples are available on
http://www.arri.com/entry/arri_cms.htmciao
robertyeah there are samples but they dont work out of the box… you have to modify them to get them working

ivarParticipantsofter wrote:i have my own ideas but i wanna know what you guys think is the best way to go about it.i would track in a 3D head. you can explode the 3d head with your favourite 3d soft.
you have to replace or better dissolve the 3d head in at the start of the explosion.. i did a little test some months ago with a 3d tracker and cutted of a part of my head and it worked fine .. if you want i can send you the org. 3d and final shot as qt
ivarParticipantburgerdog wrote:I don’t know the effect you are talking about, but I have had a lot of luck using the Sapphire Lens spark to make various water effects…i can send you a small QT if you want ! i still cant get the look i want…
i tried blurred particles with Lens spark but it doesnt looks the way i want… maybe i have to use a real Flow simulation to get it right…
but thx for the hints
ivarParticipantwhy you didnt rotoscope around the part which should get a water type effect and then use a displacement filter with a rippling seq or a real water seq to get the intersecting part fluid ?
hope this helps if not try to use particles which looks like flames or smoke and use that as a displ. source for your rotoscoped area…
its easy you can track the smoke or flames to the persons and voiula done ….
did a similar effect for trainees here to show them, how to get that Lord of the rings ripple effect of frodo…
if you have question contact me and i can send you the footage layer by layer so you can look at it and study it 🙂
have a nice day
