Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.
We will be comping in Nuke or Shake. Getting things to stick to the ground is probably our main concern as there are going to be numerous elements to comp in any single shot.
Locking the shadows to the same point of ground for L & R images could be interesting (I predict a little warping here so that we can match the terrain of the bg)I would be interested to know what kit you have been using/ whether it was suitable for the job?
Cheers
CraigjonmasonParticipantIt seems that you can Ctrl drag from the tracker animation to the points of the gridwarp , or even the full translation of the grid.
Thank Frank for this one.

Personally I haven’t used IQ but have trained people to make the switch between Quantel products and Flame. The most important thing is that you have good Compositing and Design skills, then all you need to know is where the buttons are to make it happen. Artists that have experience on Quantel kit are usually used to working quickly with clients beside them, this will also help when you make the switch to Flame.
I beleive that it is more difficult to train somebody to be a good designer, compositor and to have the right skills to deal with clients than it is to train them on kit. So number of years on particular kit comes lower in priorities.
If I were you I would make the most of the IQ opportunity.
Good luck
jonmasonParticipantHi Guys
It seems like quite a few people have had the same problem.
Just to be more specific I’ll give you an example of what I’m trying to do:Add axis1 . Import 3d object (eg teapot 3DS) which will be parented by axis2
Animate axis1 position in 3d space. with no motion path
copy or use expression to link axis1 position to axis2 position with 1 frame offset.
next , on axis2 rotation channel I use lookat(axis1.position,axis2.position,(1,1,1))
ALL IS FINE
TRY THIS AGAIN but this time use a motion path for axis1 .
SILVATOOTH if you know the answer. Please tell us.
Cheers
jonmasonParticipantHi guys
Lookat works fine. if you offset 1 axis a frame ahead of the geometry axis, then it points in the right direction.
However.
As soon as you try this when there is a motion path involved it gets screwed. It’s difficult to animate in 3D space with no paths!
I guess the problem is that there is no way to convert the position values of an axis with motion path back to key frames!jonmasonParticipantThanks for the replies guys.
I will try some kind of workaround.
DISCREET can you fix this!!Cheers
