Hey Jon,
I use the master keyer all the time, it gives as good as key as keylightPaul
Peerlesspaul_roundParticipantMaybe your defaults don’t have autokey enabled
paul_roundParticipantThis may be obvious, but you have got autokey on when animating your bicubic , haven’t you?
paul_roundParticipantOne other question, what res are you working at? If it’s 2k, then that is why C-reality gives a better key, as the Spirit is only 2k on the luminance channel, the chroma signal being processed at 1k.
paul_roundParticipantFirst thing to check, has the colourist done any secondary grading, to “improve” the blue, if so, this must not be done, also check what stock is being used and make sure it is a fine grain stock.
paul_roundParticipantAs previously stated, finest grain stock possible. When you say betacam, do you mean regular betacam or digibeta? betacam is no good because it is a composite system, wheras digibeta is component, essential for good keying and dvcam is a no-no too. If possible, (unless it’s already been shot), try to get the effects shots done on 35 not 16
paul_roundParticipantI’m afraid I’d have to agree with Guest, I know the big deal with Toxik is collaboration, however I would find it very difficult indeed to get everybody to change their way of working re databases etc. The toolset should definitely be the number one prority in my book, as it is aimed at film work, I could not seriously do a shot with it in its present form, (certainly not a complicated one) Also, the issue of buying 5 seats plus the compulsory support puts the startup price too high for a box that can’t emulate even Shake in its current form, a standalone box would be a helluva lot easier for me to get into my place and once there, people can then play with it and I think that’s how to generate the interest in it. I also agree that there are too many good tools in Inferno to not try and put them in V1, I could live without paint, but not without a decent keyer.
paul_roundParticipantHow do I get them if I don’t have Itunes?
Paul
paul_roundParticipantOK, more info, much better. Well over here in the UK (I guess not to dirfferent from the US), as you can imagine there are lots of people chasing these sort of jobs. I would suggest you start by contacting a few companies, show them what you have done at university, possibly with a view to doing work experience or looking for a runners job. Sad but true, but most people do start as runners, even with a little experience, but at least you would get a chance to see what opportunities are available.
Paul
paul_roundParticipantWhat a stupid question!
Impossible to answer!
With only 2 years experience on so many appz, you will only get a junior position. Do you want to do 3Dor 2D? work in commercials, broadcast or Films?
I suggest you ask yourself what you want to do with your life before getting to greedy about money!May 11, 2005 at 9:50 am in reply to: Real-Time Resolution Independent Compositing (Live Sources) #209986paul_roundParticipantI think you’ll find there is no such system
paul_roundParticipantSo what happens to Inferno?
paul_roundParticipantWhat box are you using? If Inferno try motion estimation, not sure if it’s in Flame, otherwise as previously said Kronos, in the Furnace suite from the foundry.
Paul
Peerlesspaul_roundParticipantI disagree, with a new application like this you want as many people to experience it and produce the demand for it as possible. With such a high start up cost, this could be difficult, I know from experience that asking for $5k for a standalone machine is far more feasible than $40K, think back to when shake first appeared, it saturated the film market because it was so accessible, you could download a fully working version and use it in production for 30 days.
Paul
Peerlesspaul_roundParticipantYeah, also there’s quite a hefty cost for support. I’d love to see it take over from Shake, but, what with 5 seats minimum plus the compulsory $2500 support, that comes to over $40K. Sorry Discreet (oops Autodesk!), but that’s far too much for most Filmhouses, especially when Shake is so well established. I could probably swing 1 here to start with, then people could get to see how it works, play with it, then the demand is there, but if I were to go to the powers that be and ask for 40K, then I know what the answer would be.
Sorry, just my 2 cents worth.Paul
