It’s also important to remember, when working with 1D lUTs , you must also export the resulting comp with the inverse LUT.
Ie your log image then gets put back into the same log colourspace as the rest of the film.
When you create a 1D LUT, (certainly in Flame), you will automatically generate the inverse, (linear back to log) LUT.Paul
pixelmonkParticipantYes, it exists. (actually there are 7 QT’s all of varying lengths, but each is missing the end frame).
If you do an image export it changes the colour. It only appears to be Flame that can’t handle it.
Never seen this before.
Damned annoying.Paul
pixelmonkParticipantIt’s certainly not as user friendly for painting mattes as desktop paint.
It really is about time that that all the tools in desktop paint were mirrored in batch paint.Paul
pixelmonkParticipant“”grandfather” of compositors”
Err, I think you’ll find that title belongs to Quantels Harry, or Cineon, (if you’re talking film)pixelmonkParticipantWhat I’d like to see, is the primary output retaining the old naming convention, then any other outputs you add would have different suffixes.
Paul
pixelmonkParticipantYou can load as many batch/action setups as you want into Batch, just be sure you are on Append not Replace when you load them, then hit render. They will render one after the other.
Paul
pixelmonkParticipantPersonally, I don’t see why you should have to buy anything, particularly a Smoke on Mac, just for something as basic as archiving, should be a bgd (or via wiretap) free utility by now.
Paul
pixelmonkParticipantFurnace DeNoise, with analysis on is your friend.
Paul
pixelmonkParticipantYup, still at Peerless, must do beer soon.
pixelmonkParticipantHi Andy, you well?
Yes, still need a flame, here is the post:
http://www.fxguide.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7626&page=3pixelmonkParticipantAny idea if there is a limit on what version of Flint can be crossgraded?
pixelmonkParticipantWell, all I can say is I had to wear a pair of glasses!
pixelmonkParticipantNot sure if I’m allowed to talk about it, mind you, I didn’t have to sign anything.
pixelmonkParticipantThe colourspace of DPX files is 10 bit log, Flame works, (natively) in 12 bit linear, so you will need to use a log to lin LUT to get them into the right colourspace. I would advise against using the standard Discreet LUT, as they tend to clip the whites. It would also be useful to work with a monitor LUT, so you can get an approximation of what it will look like once printed back to film.
However, if all you are doing is an assemble, no effects work at all, I would keep them in log space.Paul
pixelmonkParticipant“flint is going to be discontinued”
I must admit, I thought it already had. -
