I’ve heard rumours that Discreet is going to show something new for the Windows(!) platform at this year’s SIGGRAPH. With a lot of FFIs tools in it…
So if there’s any truth to that, I’d wager that we’ll all be intoxikated after SIGGRAPH…watch out! ๐

All the best,
Mario
renderizerParticipantRayk – just out of curiosity: where in germany are you located? I’m biding my time in the deep down south of germany, in the Allgรฦรยคu…not exactly the hippest place if it comes to media… ๐

And just to add my $0.02 to the whole apple vs. pc war (crap!): some friends of mine have just bought a G5, and I have to say that I am quite impressed by it, yet I am so used to the PC side of things that I’d have some diffculties with MACs…and in my book, mice should have two legs…er…buttons. ๐
I’d love to go with dual 64-bit AMDs, even though there is no optimized software yet…
Anyway: I just got rid of my job, so I’m not going to buy any new hardware in the near future. ๐ฅ

But: mapping the whole tablet to both displays not only effectively reduces the per-screen horizontal resolution (and hence the precision) but also distorts the aspect ratio of the screen/tablet relationship (shapes appear squashed horizontally).
Especially when doing real paintwork, this is rather annoying.
It would be nice to have a means to switch the mapped area to different monitors: the whole tablet is mapped to one single display, and with the use of a button (for example, you could use the Intuos’ tabletbuttons for this) you switch the mapping to the 2nd monitor.
renderizerParticipantHmmmm….you seem to be very detemined to go with a Wildcat…
My idea would be to go with any of the nVidia workstation cards instead (I use the Quadro4 750 XGL with Combustion), and then get another nVidia PCI card (not too expensive) with TV out, so you could use the framebuffer plugin with this card.
BTW: all the reviews I read about the VP870 were whistling more or less the same tune: too much money for rather poor performance, especially when compared to the recent nVidia and FireGL devices.
Just my $0.02 cents…
