CemalParticipant
For 500 bucks and unlimited render nodes in OSX of course, how could you afford not to. Still is and will continue to be a powerful player in the compositing world.

Its pretty real-time to which is nice. Even faster on Linux !!!. hehehehe

CemalParticipantHas anyone used Toxik in a Feature Film?
CemalParticipantAbout time someone noticed. great article.
swerve.
CemalParticipantI would be interested as well, as i am in development of something that might plug into the DB quite nicely.

CemalParticipantshweet. Got it all figured out thanks.

CemalParticipantI have used Kronos from Furnace, PFtrack REtime, and Twixtor.
Twixtor worked the best for my shots and had lots of options for matte occlusions and high level of control. I recommend Twixtor.
cheers.

CemalParticipantMoney Talks, Good work walks… hahahaha
seems to be the new thing in this industry.

CemalParticipantCemalParticipantHey,
Well you can also look at a LUT as a colour correct. Which in the bare essence is what your doing to the LOG plate to make it Linear, your sorta applying a colour correct. Essentially the director likes the LUT or the colour correct you’ve done to the plate.
It is technically wrong. but a director wants what a director wants. I would apply the lut to the plate which would make it linear. Then apply the standard log conversion to take it back to log and out for film. Hopefully your monitor is calibrated and it should look like what you saw. don’t forget to work in float as to not clip any details.swerve.
CemalParticipantA over-priced frame playback machine !!! 😉
CemalParticipantawesome thanks. Seems like they fixed the PSD alpha issue. God Bless them. hahah. I guess i was hoping for to much for them to fix moving roto keyframes. ah well. maybe next version…oh wait…hehehe. Gonna wait for the new dual-core G5 before we upgrade and see what all this universal binary mumbo jumbo is all about.
cheers

CemalParticipantaside from the universal binary crap, what else have they fixed in shake 4.1 in terms of bugs or features. Can’t seem to find the tech specs on new things in 4.1
thxs.

CemalParticipanttools tools tools.
that’s all they are man. end of the day its just a tool. shake is great im a lead compositor at my studio and heck i love shake, so much so, they even have a blurb about me using it over at apples website. you know what BIG DEAL.
apple discontinues it, and they produce something else. Fantastic! if its good the visual effects community will use it. If not. Big deal. You got nuke, you got fusion, flame, inferno Toxik. They’re all tools. and they all do the same exact thing. End of the day, its the creativity of the compositor and the images he/she spits out, doesn’t matter what tool they used.
-swerve.
CemalParticipant..ahhh. but who are we kidding. afterall that is what Toxik is for.
