    Hey all.

I’ve worked on them all except Onyx3.

I just recently came from Inferno/Fire on Onyx2 quad 12ks to Flint/Smoke on linux. The little linux system has been more stable than any system except my experience with the octane 1 which was dog slow but a work horse. The linux system blows away all of them as far as speed even the Tezro in the suite next door for SD and simple HD. The Onyx 2 couldn’t even begin to keep up. You start to see the performace hit when you start manipulting more than five HD layers in action. 2k and 4k it really starts to slow down.

As far as Flint verses Flame and Inferno. I miss the modular keyer terribly. I sometimes sneak into the Tezro and pull the keys, save the setup and render it back in Flint. Even though it’s not there visualy, it is under the hood and can render modular keyer setups. There is the motion estimation node and paint and text in batch.

I tend to rely on Boujou for 3D camera tracking. The FOV translates nicely and the camera has the right orientation almost always.

    Cheers.
